Academic Activities:

  • Summer 2006: Autonomy Laboratory under supervision of Dr. Richard Vaughan As a recipient of NSERC Undergraduate Research Award, I worked on Ad-hoc Communication Networking modules for a Multi-Robot System. I completed the following:
    • C Programming: Adding this functionality to Player
    • CGI Programming: A web application for locating the robots

Network Systems Lab
  • Summer 2007: Networking Lab under supervision of Dr. Mohamed HefeedaAs a recipient of NSERC Undergraduate Research Award, I worked along side Dr. Hefeeda’s team to achieve the following:
    • P2P Streaming:
    • C Programming: writing the client for CBC radio


Non-Academic Activities:

President of SFU Iranian Club
  • SFU Iranian Club is devoted to promoting the Persian culture within the student community and bringing students together in a friendly environment by organizing events and activities for its members.

  • Cinémathèque, located in downtown Vancouver is a not-for-profit society dedicated to the understanding of film and moving images through exhibitions, film tours, and educational services.

  • Having a passion for making coffee and meeting new people, I work once a week as a Barista at The Boulevard Coffee shop.

Arash Kamangir Musical Play
  • I am part of group putting together a play based on a Persian heroic Poem called ‘Arash-e-Kamangir’. We are hoping to perform in mid September at SFU Theatre. I play the role of an old man narrating the story of a hero named Arash.

The producer and founder of Cafe Radio
  • Student driven “Café Radio” will be the new artistic channel for promoting Iranian culture. Students will make programs about various cultural and educational topics which include interviews with artists, movie reviews, music, sustainable living and much more.
